As an English and Academic Writing lecturer at Xiamen University Malaysia, I see myself as a “pastor” to about a couple of hundred students.
My role takes on various forms. Foremost is to facilitate English learning classes in ways that whet students’ appetites for the language. One way is to stir their awareness and curiosity about self-worth, life meaning/purpose and values; getting them to articulate their thinking in these key matters. Additionally, I make it a point to interact with them in informal settings through being an adviser to the Christian Fellowship and also to the University Football Club.
Serving these students with joy, enthusiasm and fun is an expression of my worship of Jesus in my calling there. #servepeople
