In chapter 18, Elijah had just proven himself to be prophet of the Lord, Yahweh. Yahweh reveals Himself in consuming fire in response to Elijah’s prayer. Elijah then kills all 850 prophets of Baal. He then prays for rain and the drought ends. He supernaturally outruns King Ahab’s chariot to get to the royal city of Jezreel.
In earlier chapters, we read of how Jeroboam fled to Egypt and stayed there until Solomon’s death (1 Kings 11:40). After Solomon’s death, Jeroboam returned from Egypt to appeal to the new King Rehoboam to lighten the yoke that King Solomon has put on them on behalf of the people (1 Kings 12:1-4).
Upon meeting Jeroboam and his group, King Rehoboam approach the elders to discuss Jeroboam’s request on reducing the hard labour the people were going through.
Imagine being the newly minted King. King Solomon, was offered as it were, “a wish of a lifetime”. Solomon could have asked for anything, instead he asked for a discerning heart. What would you ask for? And what would that be?
To ancient people, the “heart” often referred to one’s inner thoughts and conscience. But today we know that it is the brain that does the cognitive functions that gives rise to emotions. Nevertheless, expressions of emotions are often referred to as matters of the heart, because of the emotions we feel coming from within.
Augustine, one of the early church fathers once quoted:
“One must look deeply into the human heart to see in what direction it is turned, and on what point its gaze is fixed.”

The Stations of the Cross is a devotional journey through the final hours of Jesus Christ’s life on earth. Traditionally marked by fourteen images portraying His Passion—from condemnation to entombment—this practice invites us not only to remember what He endured, but to prayerfully encounter His love revealed through suffering.
This year, we present an adapted journey of eight stations, titled The Way of Love.
As you move from station to station, we invite you to slow down, to behold, and to listen.
The stations are arranged in a quiet, gallery-style format to support prayerful reflection. We invite you to enter in silence, to move unhurriedly, and to approach each station with reverence.
You may choose to sit or stand at the stations—extra chairs are provided around the area for you to reflect and journal.

Apologetics, simply stated, means “the defense of the faith.” Is Jesus really God? Did he actually rise from the dead? Is the Bible really God’s Word? These questions may seem difficult but they are not impossible to answer. In fact, these are the key issues of the Christian faith. As Paul says, “…if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile…” (1 Corinthians 15:17). Therefore, as responsible Christians, we need to learn how to defend our faith in God, the Bible and the other key Christian doctrines.

A transformation of the heart is the goal every Christian must desire after and strive for if his/her walk with God is to be taken seriously. However, there is no shortcut to this cultivation of the inner life. Well-known author Richard Foster comments, “If we are expecting one or two worship services or study groups a week to change us, it will never happen. The whole object of the exercise is to walk with God through our days and through our nights.”
The practice of the spiritual disciplines is the pathway toward true inner spiritual transformation, which is more than about merely doing good “Christian” things. On a deeper level, it is about being changed from the inside out so that we can live abundant and joyful lives for the Lord.

This course seeks to equip participants to minister with authority and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ. We will look into the biblical basis of spiritual warfare and examine the different practical aspects of ministry in which we are engaged in spiritual warfare.

Let us come together in our collective calling to love our neighbours, speak up for the oppressed, and be effective instruments of God’s justice in the world by being beacons of hope and catalysts for sustained change.
