Welcome to SCCD (Social Concerns and Community Development)!

In SCCD, our mission is to advocate community engagement in our nation, bringing God’s love and justice to a needy society; building hope and transforming lives in Malaysia.

Our Beliefs
  1. We believe that every person is made in the image of God, carrying within them God-given dignity, value and purpose. Therefore each person carries the potential of living out their God-given potential, regardless of ethnicity, class and background.
  2. We believe in the restorative and empowering work of Christ, and that God loves all people and offers them the opportunity of a new life in Christ.
  3. We believe that God is just, compassionate and merciful especially towards the vulnerable, the poor and the marginalized, and has called Christians to be likewise.
Our Approach

SCCD operates at three levels in serving the communty
  • Relief & services
  • Development
  • Advocacy

SCCD partners with local churches, NGOs, corporations and government departments towards these ends. We work to inform and empower Christians to work with the community to make biblically-shaped responses to suffering and oppressed individuals and communities.

Our work, which includes relief (food aid, welfare aid), community outreach (people groups) and community development, is ongoing and especially crucial now during this very challenging period of the pandemic.

Dear friends,

Every person matters - whether young or old, male or female - as everyone is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

As a proud Malaysian, I celebrate the beauty of cultural diversity and treasure the emphasis of love, respect and honour towards one another.

As a member of the global citizenry, I have learnt to appreciate the value of sowing and investing in generations to come. But despite the generations’ efforts to build a better tomorrow, there appears to be little evidence of lasting outcomes, especially when it seems to be often met with the increasing hostility and complexity of humankind.

However, I take comfort in the hope we have, that Christ will restore all things to Himself again and make all things new (Revelation 21:5). For this reason, as God’s people, we do not give up hope but continue to fix our eyes on God – Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) who has overcome the world (John 16:33).

With this great hope, SCCD will continue to play an active role in being the voice to the voiceless (Proverbs 31: 8-10), to be the rebuilder of walls and restorer of homes (Isaiah 58:12), to defend the cause of the fatherless and the widows, and to love the people residing among us (Deuteronomy 10:18).

And in everything we do, we want to do it with the love of Christ. I encourage you therefore to step up in faith, to step out with courage to make known God’s way to the outcast, the poor and needy. Together, we can bring hope to the hopeless.

So, join us this day to be the salt and light of the world!

All of us have skills that are relevant for one of the above in SCCD. We encourage you to get involved. You can make a positive difference to God’s Kingdom. Find out how.
