{"id":12096,"date":"2022-09-13T11:20:32","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T03:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/?p=12096"},"modified":"2022-09-13T11:21:07","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T03:21:07","slug":"sermon-reflection-the-god-who-makes-things-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/sermon-reflection-the-god-who-makes-things-new\/","title":{"rendered":"Sermon Reflection &#8211; The God Who Makes Things New"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\"><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Posted by May Ng \u2022 Sep 13, 2022<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_separator wpb_content_element vc_separator_align_center vc_sep_width_10 vc_sep_border_width_5 vc_sep_pos_align_center vc_separator_no_text vc_custom_1653980010483\" ><span class=\"vc_sep_holder vc_sep_holder_l\"><span  style=\"border-color:#b11f24;\" class=\"vc_sep_line\"><\/span><\/span><span class=\"vc_sep_holder vc_sep_holder_r\"><span  style=\"border-color:#b11f24;\" class=\"vc_sep_line\"><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was led to join NECF\u2019s 40 Days of Fast &amp; Prayer this year.\u00a0 Although I am aware that we should not be led entirely by our feelings, I do feel that I am in some form of \u2018wilderness\u2019 now \u2013 in a difficult season and being confronted with several challenges, and I find myself struggling to keep my head up.\u00a0 This has propelled me to seek God through fasting and prayer.\u00a0 After all, God did promise that we will seek Him and find Him when we seek Him with all our hearts, and He will be found by us (Jeremiah 29:13-14).\u00a0 Besides fasting and praying, there is also the commitment to read 10 chapters of the Bible a day, following the daily readings suggested by NECF.\u00a0 I found myself actually being excited as I look forward to what God has to speak to me every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last Wednesday, on day 32 of the fast &amp; prayer, God spoke to me through this verse <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 I felt like I was being awakened by a jolt of lightning.\u00a0 After some time of (what I thought to be) fervently seeking God, I felt God was talking to me directly!\u00a0 These verses struck a chord in me, for they addressed my constant ruminating about the past and how God is making a way for my future!\u00a0 The next day, I downloaded another Bible app, and the first verses being pushed to me on my phone were Isaiah 43:18-19.\u00a0 That very same night, I tuned in to the nightly prayer altar anchored by the Malaysian United Firewall, and the preacher shared these same verses!\u00a0 How good and faithful God is!\u00a0 It is as if God wanted to assure me that I heard Him loud and clear, and He was trying to reach out to me with these same verses under different circumstances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I repented of the times I cried out to God, lamenting that He is spending too much time counting the hairs on my head (which should be easier for Him as time goes by), and not helping me in the areas that I am toiling in.\u00a0 For want of a better word, I was languishing.\u00a0 I saw no hope in my future, and I felt inadequate.\u00a0 I do not even feel \u2018qualified\u2019 to be used by God as an effective Christian.\u00a0 With time not being on my side, I was riddled with guilt, shame and condemnation from past mistakes and regrets.\u00a0 I was desperate for God to show some indication that He heard me and that some form of His help is on the way.\u00a0 God did show up, in His time.\u00a0 God is faithful.\u00a0 He sees, He hears, He speaks.\u00a0 And where the word of a king is, there is power.\u00a0 God knows me so well \u2013 He knows I forget easily, and hence, the gentle \u2018bombardment\u2019 of the same verses in close succession.\u00a0 God was trying to restore hope in me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pr Sara\u2019s message over the weekend further illuminated the area of hope for me.\u00a0 God has used Pr Sara mightily in assuring me that He makes all things new.\u00a0 Jesus may not be physically here with us now, but He will come again to rule and reign as the Messiah King.\u00a0 It is going to be a glorious future for those who are called by Him!\u00a0 I believe God\u2019s restoration is going to be better than before.\u00a0 The past over 30 days of fasting, praying and reading the Word is equipping me to have a better posture in the waiting.\u00a0 It is such a great blessing that I am on a journey to know Him better through His Word.\u00a0 Jesus is the Word made flesh, and if the Word never passes away, I am encouraged to dive daily into the Word each day to get to know my Messiah King more.\u00a0 The Word is rich in His wisdom, love and hope, and I would be doing a disservice to myself if I do not meditate on His Word. The hope of and in God is found in the providence of His Word.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On day 36 of this fast and prayer, God gave me this verse: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 He restores hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hope may or may not come naturally to us, but, in order to have any hope at all, we must know God, the One Who created us all.\u00a0 Through Christ, I know I can have a confident expectation of good, that far exceeds any worldly hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As I continue to behold Him, I surrender to Him to make things anew.\u00a0 As I continue to rest in His love, I know I will be restored by His saving grace.\u00a0 The God Who sees me is faithful.\u00a0 Jesus gave His life for mine, and He is trustworthy of all my hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I pray for endurance to be the kind of steadfast Christian who will hope in God, no matter what.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was led to join NECF\u2019s 40 Days of Fast &amp; Prayer this year.\u00a0 Although I am aware that we<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":12098,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_mi_skip_tracking":false},"categories":[119],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12096"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=12096"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12096\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":12097,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12096\/revisions\/12097"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12098"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12096"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=12096"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dumc.my\/tm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=12096"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
