Looking back in the year 2023 I am able to identify which type of soils I have been throughout the year. In some ways I had been the Hard Soil when I refused to be gracious to someone who had so frequently taken advantage of me and I had made it clear of my dislike. This had also led to my heart being a Tangled heart as I was distracted by the challenges I faced especially towards the middle of the year when I was having to care for my ageing mother-in-law. This however led me to be an Open heart as my husband and I turn to prayer and seek the Lord for His peace and strength in caring for her. It has caused us as husband and wife to at times be in disagreement yet at the end of the day, we find peace in Him. He had made a way to resolve issues which were overwhelming for us as we struggled to care and also carry out our work. The Lord has been faithful and knows our human limits and as my mother-in-law became frail, He had provided a caring and compassionate caregiver to take over the tasks which we were no longer able to do for my mother-in-law. He had been leading me every step, especially in getting my mother-in-law to be hospitalised during her critical moments even when we were turned away by the ER doctor because there were no more available beds. Even now after our duties have been done in laying my mother-in-law to rest, we are still seeking Him to lead us in our work and continuing in serving Him in the Men and Women ministries we are in. May He enable us to grow closer to Him in 2024 through His Word in the ministries we are in as well as our work. We share testimonies with our clients of His faithfulness in challenges we face as He sees us through them whenever the situation arises.
Let us remember: “For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” (Romans 8:32)
