I am truly reminded of the goodness of God when Pastor Angeline Tan prayed the prayer for God to give us our daily bread which is sufficient for us, not to abound in wealth that we forget Him nor be insufficient less we sin against Him.
Without any hesitation, I stand to testify of His goodness as He has always provided more than sufficient for my daily needs and the needs of every member of my family. Although the past few years ever since the MCO had hit the whole world, He had always provided and protected every member of my family from any terrible harm. Even when we caught Covid 19 and were seriously down in our health, He had sent a sister-in-Christ with some herbal medicine to help every member of the family recover quickly. He is always our Help in times of need. He has always been present when I seek Him in any situation.
Like all human beings, I too do get distracted by challenges and circumstances in my life. Through the study of books like Discerning the Voice of God by Priscilla Shirer and I Give Up by Laura Story in my Women to Women’s group in DUMC, I learn to focus on His Word and share experiences and challenges with other sisters-in-Christ as we journey through each year.
Yes, during the good times, I sometimes take God for granted but I have always been thankful of His goodness and abundant providence in my life. Yet at times I treat Him like Father Christmas and ask Him for more than I need. Truly I need to repent. At times, I was disappointed when my prayers were not answered yet I realised that He had a good reason for not granting my wish.
Just this morning the Holy Spirit reminded me to forgive someone who had wronged us by taking sides in a situation. I clearly heard “Forgive” as I felt a rising anger in my heart. I know I had to let go so God can heal my heart. Yes, truly it is a struggle within my heart to obey Him. Yet, I know I can only overcome this by truly obeying Him.
Our daily living is full of many challenges and my heart struggles to focus and obey what Jesus would do in my daily life. Yet I have the Word of God in me which speaks through the Holy Spirit. I pray that we all will examine ourselves first before responding to any situation that arises in our lives.
As Pastor Mike reminds us: The righteous of God will live by faith. Thus in all situations, have faith and seek Him every time in all situations. Only Jesus is our Saviour and will cleanse us of our sinful nature. May God bless each and everyone as we walk daily, with Him.
