Missions Track
Missions Candidates’ Preparation Programme
MCPP1
INTEREST STAGE
Prepare yourself for short-term mission trips with the Mission Candidates’ Preparation Programme 1 (MCCP1).
MCPP1 will start you off with an exciting two-day, stay-in training. The training will give you an introduction to missions, through discovery of the biblical basis of God’s mission, the part we play in it, and the activities involved in such a project. Learn about the different people groups, the 10/40 Window, spiritual warfare, personal evangelism; and be trained in conducting water baptism, fellowship meal, prayer walks and intercessory prayers.
Following the training, you would be ready to embark on your first cross-cultural short-term mission trip with DUMC to:
- South-East Asia – Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam
- South Asia – Nepal, Sri Lanka
- East Asia – Japan
MCPP2
EDIFICATION
You will learn how to prepare yourself as well as your family and children in the areas of finances, culture, lifestyle and home support, should you be called to the field as a missionary or to support one.
EXPOSURE
During the training, you will be guided on how to prepare a contextualised evangelistic testimony and participate in street evangelism, and embark on another cross-cultural mission trip for further exposure.
EQUIPPING
The programme is also a platform to acquire leadership and organisational skills while working together cohesively as a team, and through the church’s equipping track.
ENRICHMENT
To enrich the learning process, you will have opportunities to interact with a serving long-term missionary and expand your understanding of unreached people groups.
MIT
COMMITMENT STAGE
As you deepen your involvement in cross-cultural missions, you may sense a calling to long-term missions – as a career missionary or a cross-cultural tentmaker. The Missions Intensive Training (MIT) is a one- to three-month field attachment with a missionary overseas – for you to explore and discern this call.
MCCP3
INTERN STAGE
After confirming your call to full-time mission work during the MIT through prayer and confirmation by the Missions Pastor, what follows is a one-year programme as a missionary-in-preparation. Here you will be required to undergo a pre-field training, identify a sending agency, raise support and form your home-side ministry team.
MCCP4
APPOINTEE STAGE
Finally, you will be commissioned to the field. Your initial focus in the first 2-3 years will be on language and cultural studies in the host country.
