It is interesting that for this whole week, I had been hearing about people being called by God to do what causes them to feel quite uncomfortable, even distressing. Two notable sharings were from Senior Pastor Chris Kam sharing at Recalibrate 2023 that “because you don’t want it, it is yours” and Pastor Terry sharing that he was to proclaim the Word of God to a large crowd despite him having severe stage fright.
My takeaway from what I heard this week is this: God will challenge you to do what is not comfortable to you. It is not about Him having a sadistic sense of humour, rather it is about building you in obedience. Because you are not comfortable, you will be more careful in your conduct in word and deed. Because you are not comfortable yet obedient to the call, you will do your very best. But more importantly, because you are not comfortable but have trust in the calling, you will rely on Him all the more with expectation that He will carry you through.
Whatever you are called to, know that His hand will never leave you and that He will guide you. Listen well, do the best preparation you are able to, and step out in faith knowing that He will carry you, in spite of it all.
