The 2025 edition of Our Best Thought is inspired by our 2025 Bible Reading Plan and features writings thoughtfully crafted by contributors reflecting on their daily devotions. “Our Best Thought“ is taken from the hymn, “Be Thou My Vision” as a reference to God: “Thou my best thought, by day or by night.”
Reading: Exodus 13-14
Scripture:
Exodus 14:13-14
13 Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.’
ㅤ
Observation:
When the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and the advancing Egyptian army, fear overwhelmed them. But God had a solution far beyond their imagination—He parted the sea! His power was displayed in a miraculous way, proving that nothing is impossible for Him. The Israelites only needed to trust and move forward in obedience.
ㅤ
Application:
Often, we face situations where no solution seems possible. We try to rely on our own understanding, but God’s ways are higher than ours. Instead of panicking, we must trust that He is in control and that His solutions far exceed our thinking. When we surrender to Him, we open the door for His power to work in ways we never expected.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your power, especially when I feel trapped by life’s challenges. Teach me to be still and rely on You, knowing that nothing is impossible in Your hands. Strengthen my faith to move forward when You lead, even when I cannot see the way ahead. Amen.
