Some seasons may come again. Some seasons come once in a lifetime. Matthew 25 tells of a tale where ten virgins await a bridegroom; five have brought enough oil for their lamps for the wait, while the other five did not have any oil. The five virgins who are prepared for the bridegroom’s arrival are rewarded, while the five who went to buy oil missed the bridegroom’s arrival and are disowned. The Bible always reminds us to keep watch and always be ready. This is why I am always reminded by Pastor Chris’ call to always wake up in the morning and say, “Good morning, Holy Spirit.” This will automatically align our spiritual compass to be always ready for whatever season God puts us in.
My late father took education very seriously. During his service, he served in 7 churches. Everywhere he went, he would convert the church hall to a study hall every weekend. He would bring the children from the villages to study and spend the weekend in the hall. The children would spend Friday and Saturday in the hall and return home after Sunday’s Service. People would gather at the halls. They would come together and cook for the children. These actions brought the people closer. The students also attended colleges and universities and would recall the moments of studying in the hall. They made studying their priority and became successful.
God has been faithful to me. He has certainly given me a good life and parents who loved me. I spent 6 years of my life in a missionary school, ACS Sitiawan. I did my Standard 4 to Form 3 here. Although I was a member of the Tamil Methodist Church, the Wesley Methodist Church was very closely linked to the school. I attended the Wesley Methodist MYF sometimes. I remember singing carols. It is also interesting to note that the youths of the Wesley Methodist Church talked about Canning Garden Methodist Church (CGMC). I did my Form 6 in Ipoh and attended the cell group in Canning Garden Methodist Church and CGMC introduced me to Damansara Utama Methodist Church. I am writing this reflection because I attended a missionary school.
There was a time where I was working as a copywriter in between my jobs. I was then invited to write a book based on an important event where I had to interview pastors and leaders and compile the history of this certain organisation that has been a blessing in God’s kingdom. Initially I said yes, then I started to doubt. I kept giving myself excuses and I also experienced spiritual attacks. I can certainly say that I was alone in this and was too embarrassed to consult or share this with my cell members or anyone else. Sometimes I do look back at this moment because I have missed a Golden Season where I had a chance to write a bestseller for His Kingdom.
When we are committed to accept the call to go through the Golden Seasons of our life, we need to be connected with others and use our connections in a Godly and wise manner, with prayer and support.
