It will be one year soon since my mum in law has gone home to the Lord. She had lived her whole life as a Christian as far as she remembers. Brought up in St Nicholas home for the visually handicapped since before World War 2, she had only Jesus, God and her Bible during times of need and challenges. She had lived a full life trusting and believing in Jesus to guide her.
I clearly remember her saying she hopes to be able to see what she has read in the Bible about how beautiful Heaven is since she had been unable to see since she was a few years old. Even when she was young, she had trusted in God to help her in her daily life especially with her children. God had given her a long life to see grandchildren and great grandchildren. I must say, towards the last few months of her life she still continues in her habit of reading her Braille bible, praying and talking to Jesus / Holy Spirit and looking forward to going home to the Lord. Such was her faith and confidence in Jesus when I heard her call out to the Lord when she feels tired while walking.
Today’s sermon has given me reassurance that she is safe resting in His Presence as she had run the race and completed it . Now while I am still here, I need to remind the rest of the family of the great faith of my mum in law and to do good unto others as she has always done in her lifetime. She has been a great pillar of strength in faith for her children. Now we can share this assurance to our loved ones and our neighbours who are yet to know of this promise from Jesus.
