Looking back on my journey of faith in life, I am so thankful to have the family of God wherever I went. Life has its many joyous moments and also many challenging moments.
When I first stepped into married life I was blessed to have a loving mother-in- law who always prayed for the family, trusting God to guide us through the difficult and good times. Besides her, we also were blessed with CG members who enriched our lives by sharing and doing a book study called ‘Lord Change Me’. That truly helped me to realise that God is giving me experiences with people in order to change me into a better person. As the family enlarged with children, our roles grew as we not only have parents in the family but also children whom we needed to nurture both physically and spiritually. In a way, we were caught up with work besides children but the parents were a great blessing in time of need. When times were challenging especially during the mid 1990s economic downturn, friends and church family were there to help and I truly saw the hand of God providing and protecting our family.
Now that the season of caregiving for our aged parents have passed with His providence and grace, we now look towards assisting the young parents and would-be parents in our CG in their season of life. God’s family keeps on growing and we have a continuing task to do our part wherever it is needed.
May the Lord continue to use our hands and feet to do His work of building strong spiritual households as we share our experiences with them.
