Have you heard of the Generation Gap? That’s what I used to hear when I was once a teen. Even when I matured into a young adult there was still this gap between the older generation and the younger one! Until today, when I reflect on my family which is made up of my elderly mother-in-law, my husband and I and the younger generation who are our sons; I realise that there is a difference in our level of maturity and wisdom.
It is actually our human pride and arrogance which we want to uphold that causes the generation gap as everyone insists they are right and not look at the positive perspective of each other’s value.
Yet due to the teachings of our Lord Jesus, there is mutual respect and love for each other in the family which we constantly need to apply in our lives. In the family of God, as a church we need to apply the same mutual respect and love of God as well. Just as we learn to forgive and ask for forgiveness for our mistakes in our family, so also our need to apply the same within the church family.
Most importantly, we need to let Christ be magnified in our lives and decrease our sinful nature.
