DUMC STORIES: TUCK LEE

We live in a split-level terrace house. One morning, I had taken the trash out of the house, come back in, and proceeded to get busy in the kitchen downstairs. Then I heard an unfamiliar phone ring in the house. When I came out of the kitchen, I realised that it was the phone in the living room that had come with our broadband service. It’s a phone we don’t use. It was set up for emergency purposes only. In fact we didn’t even know the phone number, let alone gave it to anyone.

I decided to answer the call but the house was a bit dark and I couldn’t make out the answer button on the cordless phone. Hence, I walked to the front door to see better in the sunlight there.

When I stood in front of the door, it dawned on me! I saw that I had forgotten to close our gate and left it ajar! Then the phone stopped ringing. At the time I was home alone and there were a number of foreign construction workers working in front of the house. I thought in my heart, “Wow! An angel must have called me to tell me to close the gate!”

I realised that our God is so loving and so good that He cares even for the little details in my day-to-day life. And He works in such wondrous and miraculous ways! Praise the Lord!

“You can buy two sparrows for only a copper coin, yet not even one sparrow falls from its nest without the knowledge of your Father. Aren’t you worth much more to God than many sparrows? So don’t worry. For your Father cares deeply about even the smallest detail of your life.” (Matthew 10:29-31 TPT)

This God – his way is perfect; …  he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. (Psalm 18:30 ESV)
