Today’s edition of Our Best Thought is inspired by the Lent Meditations 2025 and features writings thoughtfully crafted by contributors reflecting on their daily devotions. “Our Best Thought“ is taken from the hymn, “Be Thou My Vision” as a reference to God: “Thou my best thought, by day or by night.”
Reading: 1 Peter 2:21-25
Scripture:
1 Peter 2:23
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
ㅤ
Observation:
Jesus endured injustice without fighting back. He did not retaliate or defend Himself, even when He was wrongly accused, insulted, and ultimately crucified. Instead, He entrusted everything to God, knowing that God is the true and just Judge. His response models humility, trust, and sacrificial love—choosing to love and serve, even when it feels unfair.
ㅤ
Application:
There are moments when I feel the weight of responsibilities piling up, especially when I seem to be the “available” one. It’s easy to ask, “Why me?” and feel frustrated at the unfairness of it all. But today’s reading reminds me that fairness was never the goal—love was. Jesus, who was completely righteous, took on the greatest injustice for our sake.
If He was willing to lay down His life for us, I can choose to lay down my time and energy to serve others, not out of obligation but out of love. Instead of focusing on fairness, I want to focus on following His example of love.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to serve with joy and not resentment. When I feel like I’m being given more than my fair share, remind me of Jesus, who bore the ultimate burden for my sake. Teach me to entrust my frustrations to You, knowing that You see and judge justly. May I reflect Your love in how I serve others. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
