Our Best Thought

Grace Upon Grace (John 1)

Mar 15, 2025

Today’s edition of Our Best Thought is inspired by the Lent Meditations 2025 and features writings thoughtfully crafted by contributors reflecting on their daily devotions. Our Best Thought is taken from the hymn, “Be Thou My Vision” as a reference to God: “Thou my best thought, by day or by night.”

Reading: John 1:14-18

Scripture:

John 1:14

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Observation:

Jesus, the eternal Word, became human and lived among us. He revealed God’s glory—full of grace and truth. Through Him, we see God’s heart for us. His grace overflows, replacing what was given before with something even greater. While the law showed the way, Jesus brought the fullness of God’s grace and truth, making the invisible God known to us.

Application:

God sent His Son, sinless yet carrying the weight of our sins, to save us. How often do we pause to remember this? He has revealed Himself to us—not because we deserve it, but out of His unending grace.

In this season of Lent, may we reflect on His sacrifice and renew our commitment to live in His grace. In Him, we are loved, restored, and renewed. Today, we choose to live in the light of His grace, honouring Him in all we do.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus, for Your grace that we do not deserve. Thank You for loving us, restoring us, and renewing us in You. Take Your rightful place in our lives. Help us to honour You in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
